Professor Armando Martino is currently Director of Student Engagement for Mathematics, with various roles including chairing the Student Staff Liaison Committee (Maths) and NSS champion.
- Geometric Group Theory
- Actions on Trees and Bass-Serre Theory
- Automorphisms of Free Groups
- Deformation Spaces
- Probabilistic Methods for Infinite Discrete Groups
Armando's interests are in Geometric Group Theory, but specifically in automorphisms of free groups, actions on trees and spaces of trees, and in probabilistic problems in infinite discrete groups.
Armando currently teaches Galois Theory (MATH3086) and Linear Algebra 2 (MATH1049).
Armando Martino joined Southampton in 2008 having previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow - under the Ramon y Cajal scheme - in Barcelona.
