Building on his extensive earlier work on media archaeology as well as digital culture, Jussi is currently focusing on questions of environmental media. He is part of the research project Weather Reports: Wind as media, model, experience (funded by the AHRC and the DFG) as well as supervising PhD students in areas of audiovisual culture, critical media theory, and artistic practice.

Jussi is currently interested in how environmental issues intersect with digital culture including software studies. He is also engaged in research on operational images and transformations of visual culture.
Jussi's teaching interests include digital culture and art, media archaeology, environmental humanities and media, as well as art-science collaborations. He is also interested in critical curatorial approaches.
