Hao completed his funded PhD with Dr Adrian Bailey at the University of Exeter Business School. Through qualitative case studies, his thesis focuses on co-operative organising and sustainability of food supply chains.
Prior to joining Southampton, Hao was at the Science, Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (SITE) department based at the University of Exeter Business School, and a founding member of the Business, Nature and Value (BNV) Research Centre, an international network researching issues of sustainable supply chain management. In 2018, Hao was appointed as a director by the Forest School Association and the first FSA Ambassador to Greater China region. Away from the campus, Hao worked as an entrepreneur and business manager, where he obtained first-hand managerial experience and established industry connections.
