More Information

About the Clinical Imaging Facility

The Clinical Imaging Facility provides access to a dedicated environment for highquality human body imaging in support of clinical, translational, and experimental research. Delivered in close partnership with University Hospital Southampton. Currently focused on MRI imaging the facility is growing a portfolio of other clinical imaging modalities, please contact us if you would like to discuss your project needs.

MRI:

The facility offers access to a Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra 3 Tesla (3T) MRI scanner, offering advanced, highresolution imaging across a broad range of anatomical and diseasefocused applications. The system supports a wide portfolio of structural, functional, and quantitative MRI techniques, enabling detailed investigation of anatomy, physiology, and pathology in both healthy volunteers and patient cohorts.

Key Features and Benefits

Patient Comfort & Accessibility: The 70 cm open bore reduces claustrophobia and accommodates larger patients (up to 30cm of space above the face), with many exams allowing the head to remain outside the scanner.

High Performance: Features 45 mT/m @ 200 T/m/s XQ gradients, delivering high-resolution images for neurology, cardiology, and musculoskeletal imaging.

Efficiency: Uses Tim 4G and Dot technology for up to 80% higher usability, faster scan times, and improved reproducibility across operators.

Sustainability: Known for energy efficiency, with up to 22% lower power consumption than previous models.

Technical specification

Field Strength: 3 Tesla.
