Project overview Wessex Medical Research Innovation Grant 2024 Staff Lead researchers Dr Triana Amen Lecturer in Advanced Cell Biology Connect with Triana Email: T.Amen@soton.ac.uk Collaborating research institutes, centres and groups Microbiology Antimicrobial resistance, phages, biofilms, and microbiomes – we explore the complexity of the microbial world. Neuroscience We research national and global health priorities, from basic neuroscience to age-related neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. Cell and Developmental Biology We research how cells become specialised, communicate with each other and respond to the environment, leading to an impact on the development of cancer, neurological diseases and the function of the immune system. Institute for Life Sciences We bring together researchers with expertise across the themes of health and medicine, living systems, disruptive life technologies, and insights through data. We have an established reputation for working collaboratively, taking disruptive approaches and risk through interdisciplinary team science. Molecular and Precision Biosciences We research how molecular machinery governs cellular life, developing tools to tackle diseases caused when these molecular operations are disrupted.
