Research project: Offenders’ motivations for wildlife crime

This project is evaluating the deterrent effect of law enforcement strategies for poachers of rhino horn and pangolin scales in East Africa.

This research is funded by the UK Government Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) Challenge Fund in collaboration with the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust, TRACE Wildlife Forensics Network & the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement.

Dr Michelle Newberry (SSPC) is involved in this project.
