Sport and Wellbeing offers Sports Bursaries to high level athletes of any sport who have represented their region or country competitively, or have the potential to do so whilst studying at the University of Southampton.
Sport and Wellbeing recognise that sport, both participative and elite, plays a significant part in the life of the University and in the choices people make when applying for Higher Education. Sport and Wellbeing are committed to supporting high level athletes wanting to pursue dual pathways, combining both academic studies with competing on the National and International stage in their chosen sport.
Each year we offer athletes the opportunity to develop their sporting potential by providing them with an excellent support network of services. Successful applicants are based on the amount of applications received (as numbers are limited), alongside the level of achievement for each of the three categories, Gold, Silver and Talent ID.
The bursary has helped me during my PhD program to attend international competitions, improve my physicality specifically related to the aspects of tchoukball, as well as provide support whenever I have needed it in relation to my personal and sporting life.
