Mr Adrian Hickford is Research Assistant within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
- Assessing the long-term impacts of socio-economic, technological and environmental change on the capacity and demand for national infrastructure (energy, transport, water, waste and ICT)
- Monitoring and evaluation of the impacts of local sustainable transport schemes
- Assessing the transport impacts associated with domestic and retail urban waste and recycling activities
- Improvements to road safety, particularly focusing on the assessment of junction design, use of pedestrian guardrails and deployment and use of traffic safety cameras, and subsequent analysis of speed and accident data
- Improvements to current practices of road traffic accident data gathering and use, particularly contributory factor data
- Transport information and navigation systems (including the role of the Internet) and user requirements
- Web site design and usability testing; acting as Webmaster for the Transportation Research Group web site, European projects STRAIGHTSOL, SMARTFREIGHT, SUE-FUTURES, NETMOBIL, STARDUST, Hampshire County Council’s INFOVILLE project, ROSETTA, PRIME, and the Independent Transport Commission
- Accident predictive modelling using multiple linear regression analysis
