Dr Megan Pearson is a Teaching Fellow in the School of Law at the University of Southampton.

Dr Megan Pearson joined the Law School in 2016. Previously she worked as a Lecturer in Employment Law at the University of Winchester. She gained her PhD in Law at LSE in 2014, writing her thesis on the conflict between freedom of religion and sexual orientation equality rights, and has a BA in Law from the University of Cambridge and an LLM from King’s College London.

Research interests

Her research interests are primarily in Discrimination Law, Law and Religion and Human Rights. Her monograph, Proportionality, Equality Laws and Religion: Conflicts in England, Canada and the USA was published by Routledge in 2017. Her particular interest is in ‘clashes’ of rights, particularly equality rights. She has also published on the election offence of undue spiritual influence and conspiracy theories as ‘religions’ in law.
