Mr Peter Syme is a postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

Peter is an ecologist with a specialisation in tropical bat ecology and completed his undergraduate and masters studies at the University of Salford.

Peter was introduced to bat research and conservation by Operation Wallacea and developed his interest through various research projects studying their ecology. His PhD is now focussing on determining the effect of environmental change on tropical montane bats in Malaysia.

Research interests

Tropical Ecology, Bat Ecology and Conservation, Spatial Modelling, Landscape Genetics, Human-Wildlife Conflicts, Climate Change.
