Francesca is a co-applicant and leads on Patient and Public Involvement/Engagement for two health research studies: - Planning for Frailty (in older people) FLOWS and Improving Care for adults with learning disability in hospital, Care4Me. She also works as a research coordinator for the FLOWS study. Her teaching in the School of Health Sciences brings her lived experience in addition to her professional, university and NHS work and focuses on postgraduate modules covering topics such as learning disability and the importance of involving the public in health research and patient experience within the NHS.
She has a strong background in both the NHS and the NIHR (National Institute of Health Research) and previously worked in the Faculty of Medicine at Southampton, where she focused on NIHR research and patient involvement. In addition to her health-related work, she also has past experience in the travel industry in Spain and is a Spanish speaker.
Outside of her professional life, she is a mother of four and carer for twin adult sons who have Down's syndrome, and she is a keen gardener with her own allotment.
