Dr Purevsuren Losol’s research career began with her medical studies at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, where she graduated with a B.Sc. in Medicine. She subsequently completed a Ph.D. in Medicine at Ajou University, Republic of Korea. Following her doctoral studies, she worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, contributing to teaching and research in molecular genetics.
Dr Losol later undertook postdoctoral research in Human Genetics and Genomic Medicine at the University of Southampton, UK, and worked as a Research Fellow in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Seoul National University, Republic of Korea. She subsequently returned to the University of Southampton, where she is currently a Research Fellow in Clinical and Experimental Sciences.
Her research focuses on understanding how genetic susceptibility, environmental exposures, diet-related epigenetic mechanisms, and microbial communities contribute to the development of asthma and allergic diseases. More recently, she has expanded her research into spatial transcriptomics to investigate cutaneous melanoma and inflammatory skin disorders. By combining her expertise in molecular biology, genetics, and immunology with innovative transcriptomic approaches, she aims to uncover tissue-level immune mechanisms underlying disease development and progression and contribute to advances in understanding disease pathogenesis.
