Mrs Jing Lu is a Teaching Laboratory Technician in the School of Chemistry at the University of Southampton.
Jing holds a B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry and an M.Sc. in Environmental Science, both obtained from Minzu University of China in 2007 and 2010, respectively. After graduation, she had worked in a pharmaceutical company in Beijing, developing plant-type gelatine-based materials for soft capsule shells.
In 2017, she began working at the University of Southampton as a Research Technician within the Water and Environmental Engineering Group of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, focusing on the Biobutanol Production via Bioelectrochemical Reduction of Butyric Acid project, which the BBSRC funded through the ADNetwork proof of concept funding scheme.
Since 2019, she has been working as a Teaching Technician in Chemistry, providing support to practical teaching activities for undergraduate students. This includes managing apparatus and chemical inventories, maintaining and calibrating analytical instruments (e.g., NMR, MS, HPLC, IR, XRD, etc), and demonstrating the operation of various instruments.
