Dr Claire Council is Deputy Head of School for Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise (KEE) in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southampton.

Biography
Claire received a BSc double honours degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Southampton in 2001. She worked as a Peptide Chemist, initially at the University of Southampton, and then in a commercial company. She was awarded an industry-based PhD from University of Surrey in 2013, on the synthesis and molecular modelling of non-natural peptide bonds in synthetic proteins.
Claire re-joined the University of Southampton in 2018 as a Programme Manager in the School of Chemistry, managing an InnovateUK-funded early-stage translation project. In 2020 she worked for the NIHR Journal’s Library as a Research Manager, before moving in 2021 to the School of Physics and Astronomy as a Senior Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation Fellow.
