About

Dr Christoph Heuser is a Research Fellow in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Christoph joined the Ageing and Dementia Research Group within the School of Health Sciences in September 2025. Here, he is working on a study exploring self-management support for older adults with multiple long-term conditions delivered by physiotherapists.

Before joining the research group, Christoph spent five years as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Gerontology at the University of Southampton, where he also completed his PhD on future-time perspective and goals in later life.  

In addition to his role as a Research Fellow in the School of Health Sciences, he works as a guest lecturer for various universities, specialising in Gerontology. Moreover, he serves as the Book Review Editor for the journal Ageing & Society and is the incoming chair of the Emerging Researchers in Ageing (ERA).

Christoph is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and also a member of the following research groups and societies:
