I have experience teaching across music, history, and lifelong learning departments at both undergraduate and postgradutate level. I am particularly interested in teaching music history, or anything that touches on the early modern period (particularly early modern England), or material culture studies.
Dr Chloë-Jade Hill is an early modern cultural historian who completed her PhD in Music at the University of Southampton as a Wolfson Foundation Scholar. Her doctoral thesis, ‘Till the Hall and the Parlor did Ring’: Music, Materiality, and Space in the Early Modern English Home, explores how domestic music-making shaped experiences of everyday life in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century England. Drawing together musicology with social and cultural history, her research examines the relationship between music, domestic life, material culture, and household space. Alongside her research, she has combined academic scholarship with public engagement through teaching, museum practice, and heritage research.
