Current research
Samarendra’s thesis investigates the epistemological ecosystem of the extractive capital by following the Iron Ore trails. The geopolitical uncertainty combined with the volatile nature of iron ore market brings friction between communities, companies, and the state. By taking a social movement theory approach it looks at the Iron Ore belt communities from the Indian states of Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Karnataka. It aims to bring together the different archival sources for a global understanding of the Iron Ore mining industry’s role in shaping the globalisation of Steel industry.
