Ortis Yankey is a Research Fellow and a Geospatial Data Analyst with the Worldpop Research Group (Faculty of Geography and Environmental Science) at the University of Southampton, UK. Ortis gained his Ph.D. in Geography from Kent State University in Ohio (US) and his research interests focuses on Bayesian spatial statistics, spatial and spatial temporal epidemiology, and health/medical geography.
- Population Modelling
- Spatial Epidemiology
- Health/Medical geography
- Spatial Statistics
He is currently conducting research on the development of Bayesian spatial statistical approaches, including uncertainty quantification, for the production of high-resolution gridded estimates of population counts and demographic characteristics in the absence of national census data across low and middle income countries, through the integration of geospatial covariate layers and survey data collected by governments and/or other agencies. He also focuses on examining the spatial and spatiotemporal distribution of health outcomes among low-income populations
