Fiona is a PhD student in the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences, and part of the Marine Invertebrate Physiology and Immunology (University of Southampton) and Restoration Ecology (University of Portsmouth) Lab groups.
Her PhD is co-funded by the INSPIRE Doctoral Training Partnership (NERC) and Blue Marine Foundation and supervised by Prof. Chris Hauton, Dr. Antony Jensen, Prof. Joanne Preston (University of Portsmouth) and Dr. Luke Helmer (Blue Marine Foundation).
My research explores the ecology and biogeochemical processes associated with shellfish restoration in the eutrophic estuarine system of the Solent. I use a wide range of techniques (elemental analysis, genetic identification, meta-transcriptomics and in-situ surveys) to quantify the status and success of restored native oyster (Ostrea edulis) beds.
