As Towing Tank Manager, I take on comprehensive leadership for the facility's major activities, driving the development of innovative testing equipment and specialist systems to unlock new research and commercial markets. A key focus is the strategic planning and management of the towing tank's operations to optimally serve educational, research, and commercial demands, ensuring maximum productivity through efficient scheduling.
A crucial aspect of this role involves establishing and maintaining a successful business operating model to guarantee financial viability and growth.
I am responsible for cultivating new links with industrial partners in areas such as consultancy, applied research, service provision, and educational offerings, negotiating contracts and spearheading marketing initiatives to promote the facility globally.
Furthermore, I lead and develop the technical team, ensuring they are well-trained and equipped to support the facility's diverse operations. This includes fostering a proactive and inclusive work environment, identifying and addressing potential challenges to maintain seamless functionality, and contributing to wider university goals by integrating technical expertise into academic projects.
My objective is to enhance the Towing Tank's reputation as a leading international centre for marine engineering research and commercial testing.
