Biography
Dr George Williams gained completed his MChem at the University of Bath, finishing in 2016. He stayed on to work under the supervision of Prof Toby Jenkins and Prof Tony James, in collaboration with Dr Mark Sutton (Public Health England), designing sensors and drug delivery systems for antimicrobial applications. This was followed by a postdoctoral position at the University of Kent, working under Prof Jen Hiscock on supramolecular antimicrobials. In December 2020 he moved to the University of Birmingham to work for Prof John Fossey, designing template driven methods to identify receptors for complex saccharide biomarkers. In 2022 George was awarded both a Pancreatic Cancer UK Career Foundation Fellowship and a University of Southampton Anniversary Fellowship, and joined UoS as a Senior Research Fellow in December 2022. His current research focuses on the interface between supramolecular and materials chemistry, with applications in cancer drug delivery.
