Sara is a PhD researcher at the University of Southampton, working on a project funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Medstrom Ltd. Her research focuses on the development of intelligent support surfaces for pressure ulcer prevention, integrating advanced sensing systems, e-textile materials, and AI algorithms for posture and microclimate monitoring.
Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Kafr El-Sheikh University in Egypt. Prior to her PhD, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Center of Smart Materials, Nanotechnology and Photonics (CSMNP) at Alexandria University. Her experience includes the fabrication and characterization of electrospun nanofibers, optical and piezoelectric sensing, and materials development for energy and biomedical applications.
Sara has co-authored multiple publications in materials science and nanotechnology and brings a strong background in laboratory instrumentation, experimental design, and applied research. She is passionate about using smart technologies to address clinical challenges and improve patient care.
