His research focuses on the dynamic interaction between fluids and marine structures, with applications spanning ship hydrodynamics, structural integrity, and performance prediction. His current work at the University of Southampton investigates the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) of wind-assisted vessels, analysing how aero- and hydrodynamic forces interact with flexible structures to influence vessel behaviour and efficiency. This includes experimental towing tank tests, as well as advanced numerical simulations to model structural response under realistic sea and wind conditions.Previously, he studied the hydrodynamic performance of wind-assisted propulsion systems, examining the coupled behaviour of hull, rudder, and propeller under steady and unsteady conditions. His research contributed to the development of robust performance evaluation tools and supported the successful sea trial of a cargo vessel fitted with a wing sail.Saeed's earlier work includes the dynamic analysis of high-speed craft under regular and irregular waves, slamming impact studies, and the hydroelastic behaviour of flexible marine structures. During his PhD, he focused on hydroelastic slamming using both experimental and numerical approaches, leading to several peer-reviewed publications and collaborations across Europe.He is an active reviewer for leading international journals, including Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physics of Fluids, Ocean Engineering, Applied Ocean Research, and Results in Engineering, among other leading journals in the field. He contributes to the academic community by supporting the peer-review process and advancing research standards in marine technology.
