I completed my BA in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Reading. Early on in this degree, I thought I would pursue an academic career in psychology, but as my studies progressed, I became attracted to the methodology, controversy, and influence of practical ethics and related areas in philosophy. Consequently, I then did the MA (Res) in Ethics and Political Theory at the University of Reading. Given my background in psychology, I particularly like areas of philosophy that interact with empirical research. Indeed, my current Ph.D. research is primarily based in the Philosophy of Sex and Sexual Ethics, but I often draw upon empirical research regarding human sexuality.

My research focuses on the science, philosophy, and ethics of sexual monogamy, consensual sexual nonmonogamy, and sexual infidelity. Please see my website nickhardingphd.com for more information.

The views and other content I present – whether it be in my research, talks, web/social media pages, media and/or public appearances, etc. – are reflective of me and not of the University of Southampton nor any other organisation that I am associated with.
