Our Research

Discover what we do and how we carry out our research.

The UN Sustainable Development Agenda includes 17 inter-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), each representing complex systems - such as climate, food, health, cities - with myriad stakeholders. Businesses will play a vital role in enabling our society to achieve the UN SDGs.

Systems approaches are essential for delivering a credible, viable, and adaptive plan to achieve complex challenges like net zero: to help manage risks, enable resilience, and ensure the delivery of desired societal and business outcomes. Organisations need a cultural shift whereby systems thinking and systems approaches can flourish.

We strive to advance the understanding and application of complex systems modeling for the resilience of critical infrastructure. We foster resilience through innovative research and systems approaches.

Our goals

  • We conduct rigorous interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research to deepen our understanding of complex systems and their interactions in the context of resilience and risk management
  • We foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning to empower individuals with the skills and mindset necessary to address dynamic challenges
  • We establish meaningful collaborations with industry, policymakers, and communities to translate research outcomes into real-world applications
  • We develop educational programs that equip existing and future leaders with the skills and knowledge to navigate uncertainty and contribute to global resilience
  • We promote ethical and sustainable practice that enhances the sustainability and resilience of socio-technical systems and mitigate risks both at a local and a global scale
