Project overview
This project, funded by a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship explores experiences of marginalisation and resilience among Southeast Asian migrant children in the UK, with a particular focus on how they imagine inclusive forms of migration. Through participatory research, the study amplifies children’s voices and challenges adult‑centric accounts of migration. Drawing on interdisciplinary insights from the mobility turn and the imaginative turn, alongside a Student Voice approach in which pupils act as researchers, the project repositions migrant children as knowledgeable and active partners in research. Using child‑led creative methods, including mapping and collage, and working closely with primary schools, the study generates new insights into migration, education, and inclusion, with clear implications for policy and practice.
