Electrical Power Engineering

The Electrical Power Engineering (EPE) Research Group is part of the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. Our expertise ranges from nanoscale insulation materials and plasma, through to electrical power systems and sustainable energy generation: from nanometres to megavolts.

Engineering Materials and Surface Engineering Group

Our research activities are often multidisciplinary involving collaborations with other research groups, Universities and industry partners.

Magnetic Resonance

Our main focus is finding ways to extend the timescale over which magnetic resonance can be made.

Nanophotonics Group

We perform fundamental optical physics and materials research. This is critical for the discovery and development of new and improved optoelectronic technologies.

Organic Chemistry, Synthesis, Catalysis

We develop environmentally sustainable approaches to chemical manufacture that minimise chemical waste, improve product velocity and reduce the need to isolate intermediates.

Photonic Systems, Circuits and Sensors Group

Our group’s research in photonics is helping the development of critical global technologies.
