We believe universities should be places where everyone can learn, belong and feel safe. If you have experience of forced migration, there's a range of support and guidance you can access during your studies with us.
Support includes:
- a Sanctuary Scholarship to help with tuition fees, living costs and accommodation
- events and activities across the University, including Refugee Week
- academic and practical support services, like our Academic Skills Service and The Student Hub
Financial support
Financial support is available while studying with us, either through our Sanctuary Scholarship or, in some cases, through Student Finance England. What you can apply for will depend on your immigration status and residency.

If you're an asylum seeker or have a successful asylum claim and can't apply for student finance, you may be able to get help from our Sanctuary Scholarship.
