I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Academic Centre for International Students, part of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Southampton.

I joined the university in 2008, after twenty years of EFL teaching and management both abroad and in the UK. During this time I lived and worked in Istanbul for many years. I have also worked in teacher training within the FE sector, managing the delivery of a range of teacher training qualifications.

At Southampton I have had many teaching and management roles to date, including managing the summer pre-sessional programme for many years. As well as this I have been involved in the teaching and management of the English Language Stages, the English for Academic Study programme, the International Foundation Year, and in-sessional EAP classes. I have also contributed to our EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) courses.

Research interests

I am particularly interested in materials and course development, particularly in the area of higher level language learning and in teacher training and development.

I am currently the programme lead for the English Language Stages and module leader for English Language Stage 6.

I also teach English Language Stage 5 and in-sessional support classes and am a course leader for the summer pre-sessional programme.
