Ahmad is a Lecturer in Banking and Finance within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton. Prior to joining SBS, he worked with the Centre for Health Education and Research in the United Kingdom as a research fellow. He also worked within the financial industry for three consecutive years.   

Ahmad holds a Ph.D. in Digital Finance, an M.Sc. in Finance and a B.Sc. in Financial and Banking Science. He holds also a Professional Diploma in NGO Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).  

Research interests

Ahmad’s research interests are mainly in the following areas:

  1. Forecasting in Financial Markets with long-memory and Co-integration.
  2. Regime Switching models in Cryptocurrency and Energy Markets. 
  3. Volatility modelling in Cryptocurrencies markets.
  4. Digital Finance, FinReg and FinTech.
  5. Time Series Econometrics.
  6. Islamic Finance.
  7. Behavioural Finance.

He's interested in supervising PhD students in topics related to volatility modelling, Long memory, and networks analysis with applications to cryptocurrencies and/or energy markets.
