Dr Nikolaos Antonios Kalyvas is Lecturer of Finance within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton

Since April 2017 I am Lecturer of Finance at the University of Southampton, UK. My previous academic appointments were at the University of Greenwich (Lecturer of Finance) and at the University of Sussex (Fellow in Banking).

I completed my PhD in International Banking in 2015 at the University of Sussex.  My PhD thesis examined the impact of business regulation on the performance of the banking sector in the European Union.
 
My current research projects relate to the interaction between public policy and regulation with bank performance and corporate finance outcomes.

Some of my projects include the impact of FDI in the banking sector, financial regulations and bank performance, and the determinants of bank loan contracting.
 
Have worked previously for the Financial Times in London, UK and Belfast, UK as well as for the Economic Development Agency of Crete (Greece). I hold an MSc in Developments Economics from the University of Reading and an MSc in International Banking from the University of Southampton. My BA in International Economics was also obtained from the University of Reading.

  • Institutional quality and corporate finance.
