Charles is a KTP Associate within ISVR at the University of Southamtpon.

Charlie studied mathematical sciences with the Open University, before joining the University of Portsmouth to study mechanical engineering. After this, he began a CASE Award PhD with the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy and Queen Mary University of London, focussing on direct energy conversion, magnetohydrodynamics and energy efficiency. He obtained his PhD in 2015.

Shortly after this, Charlie joined the University of Southampton as a postdoctoral research fellow within the ISVR Signal Processing and Control Group, working closely with the μ-VIS X-ray imaging centre on ProjectCAN. This involved developing robotic manipulator systems for X-ray laminography, a technique suited for the study of specimens with large aspect ratios, such as CFRP and fossils.

Charlie is now undertaking a KTP with the university, in collaboration with Kelda Technology. This will focus on multi-phase flow and atomization, to develop novel systems that aim to reduce water usage worldwide.
