Dr Julian Pearce is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy and the School Lead for Practice Learning within Health Science at the University of Southampton.

Julian held various clinical roles in the UK and New Zealand prior to joining the University of Southampton.  He was appointed as Programme Lead for the BSc course and then took on the role of Deputy Director of Education.  He is currently School Lead for Practice Learning, a role that encompasses the provision of practice education for all professions (Nursing & AHP).

Julian’s doctoral studies focused on identity in men with chronic low back pain using a biographical, narrative approach.  While he retains an interest in this area, current research interests are directed toward practice learning and how the clinical experience gained as a student is perceived by employers when applying for their first post.
