Dr Yi-Ling Lai is a Lecturer of HRM and Organisational Behaviour at the University of Southampton. Prior to joining Southampton Business School, Yi-Ling gained experience working in other academic institutions in the UK, such as Birkbeck College, University of London and University of Portsmouth. Yi-Ling's research mainly concentrates on psychological evidence in the coaching process.

Current research
Yi-Ling's research mainly concentrates on psychological evidence in the coaching process. Recently, Yi-Ling's research interests have extended to the application of social psychological theories (e.g., social identity and identity work) into organisation studies.

Biography
As a Chartered Psychologist, Yi-Ling has an active role in several sub-committees of the British Psychological Society (BPS), such as the Editor of International Coaching Psychology Review (ICPR) under the Division of Coaching Psychology (DoCP). In addition, Yi-Ling is the Associate Editor of Journal of Work-Applied Management.
Yi-Ling is currently supervising several PhD students, the topics include the role of narrative coaching in re-shaping identity as well as the application of coaching intervention to facilitate cancer patients' illness identity sponsored by The Fountain Centre, NHS Royal Surrey County Hospital (2019-2022).
