Harbouring Voices: Oral Histories of Whitby’s Fishing Community

Project overview

This project records the voices and experiences of Whitby’s fishing community through oral history interviews and film. By documenting working lives, change over time, and everyday knowledge of the harbour, the project aims to preserve stories that have rarely been captured in the historical record. The documentary will be shared publicly at outreach events, with recordings and transcripts archived at the Whitby Museum for future generations.
