Overview
Up to 5 scholarships are available to international students starting an eligible full-time, on-campus postgraduate taught programme in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

£10,000 reduction in your tuition fee

Eligibility
To get this scholarship you must:
- be an international student required to pay the oversees fees
- have a conditional or unconditional offer to study an eligible Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences programme
- exceed your course entry requirements
- be self-funded
This global talent scholarship is not available to students studying:
- on PGCert, PGDip, Foundation or PGR courses
- on Distance Learning courses
- with a partner institution
- at our campus in Malaysia or Delhi
- on Study Abroad courses
- as an exchange or partner student
- on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses
- only pre-sessional English – pre-sessional English students with an offer to study at postgraduate level can still apply

As part of your scholarship application you will be required to submit a supporting statement of up to 250 words explaining:
- why you have selected your chosen course
- how your chosen course relates to your previous academic or professional experience
- how your chosen course relates to your future academic or professional goals
- how your goals will contribute towards creating a more sustainable and inclusive world
Check the application deadline before you apply. Late applications cannot be accepted.
Please note that if you are successful in being awarded more than one University of Southampton funded scholarship you will automatically receive the award of highest value.
How we award
There are 5 stages in the shortlisting process.
- We check that you meet the eligibility criteria and score and rank the academic qualifications listed on your application form.
- We shortlist candidates to recognise global talent and support a diverse university community, including applicants from least developed, low-income and lower middle-income countries.
- We score and rank the supporting statement included in your application.
- We shortlist candidates from across the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences to recognise academic excellence across all subject areas.
- A panel chaired by the Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, or their nominated representative, decides who receives the scholarships.
This is a competitive process, and not all applications will be successful.
The scholarship panel's decision is final. We do not provide feedback on applications or decisions.
If your application is successful, you will receive a confirmation email and award letter.
