Apply for our 25 weeks or 39 weeks Pre-sessional Programme

Complete this form to apply for our 25 weeks or 39 weeks Pre-sessional English Programme. 

After you have submitted this form, please email a copy of your IELTS or other SELT to elaccess@soton.ac.uk. Your IELTS will need to be less than 2 years old at the start date of the pre-sessional programme. 
 
Please fully complete the application form so that we have your correct details. If your application is incomplete this may affect our ability to issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) for your visa application. 

    1. Choice of course

    Minimum entry requirements:

    Students with an IELTS level of 4.5 overall with minimum of 4.5 in all components should apply for 39 weeks  
    September 2021 start: 30 September 2021 to 9 September 2022

    Students with an IELTS level of 5.0 overall with minimum of 5.0 in all components should apply for 25 weeks
    January 2022 start: 27 January 2022 to 9 September 2022

    Please supply your passport details. We require this information before we can ask UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) for a Confirmation of Acceptance of Study (CAS) number for students who need a Tier 4 student visa for this course.

    5. Fees

    A non-refundable pre-payment of £500 is required for all applicants unless a sponsor will pay the tuition fee directly to the University.  You will be required to pay the remainder of your tuition fee or to provide a financial guarantee from your sponsor within a few days of arrival.  We will send you an email which explains how to make the pre-payment if your application is successful.

    Sponsored students must provide a letter or financial guarantee from their sponsor confirming that their sponsor will pay the tuition fee.  This must be received by Student Fees within 1 week of starting a course.

    6. Accommodation

    If you would you like to apply for University accommodation you will need to make a separate application for accommodation to the University’s Accommodation Service after you have received an offer for the English for Academic Study course.

    7. Criminal Convictions

    The University has special procedures for handling applications from students with relevant criminal convictions.  It is important that you declare any such convictions.  The information that you provide will not affect the academic assessment of your application.  However, it will enable us to put in place appropriate mechanisms to ensure that the interests and safety of all members of the University community are safeguarded.

    We strongly advise all applicants to apply at least 6 weeks in advance of the start date of the course to allow enough time for a Tier 4 Student Visa application.
