The Statistics group carries out internationally leading research in methodology and substantive applications.

Our research is focussed on three themes: design and analysis of experiments, statistical modelling, and biostatistics. As part of the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI), we have close links with statisticians and stochastic modellers across the University, especially those in the Division of Social Statistics and Demography.

Further details of our research activities can be found on the S3RI webpages.

We organise the S3RI Statistics Seminars. The calendar can be found S3RI Statistics Seminars and the seminars are open to all.

Southampton is a founding member institution for the Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS) and regularly contribute lecturers to this national advanced taught course programme.

We run MSc programmes in Statistics and Statistics with Applications in Medicine, and are partners in the MSc Data and Decision Analytics (linked to https://www.southampton.ac.uk/courses/data-and-decision-analytics-masters-msc).
