Silvia has a Ph.D. in Human Physiology from the University of Britol and has a wide scientific background spanning from natural sciences to biochemical engineering.
Before joining the University of Southampton she worked as a postdoc in Biochemical Engineering at UCSB.
In Southampton, she joined the university as a postdoctoral researcher in Cancer Sciences, before becoming a Communications, Public Engagement and Events Manager for the Administrative Data Research Centre for England (ADRC-E).
She joined the Public Engagement with Reaserch unit (PERu) in 2019.
She discovered her passion for public engagement and communications whilst working as a cancer research scientist. In the past, she extensively volunteered with the Italian Red Cross, actively collaborated with Cancer Research UK and brought the Pint of Science festival to Southampton in 2015.
