Current research

My research explores how signals from the brain and body can be measured, analysed and transformed into meaningful interactions with technology. By combining signal processing, machine learning and human-centred design, I investigate new ways of building systems that can understand and respond to people.

A central theme of my work is brain-computer interfaces, where I develop methods for decoding neural activity and translating it into practical applications. This includes research on estimating mental workload, assessing decision confidence, and understanding how other cognitive states can be inferred from physiological and neural signals. These approaches have applications in healthcare, assistive technologies, and next-generation human-computer interfaces.

I am also interested in how technology shapes human behaviour and wellbeing. My research has examined topics such as social anxiety, online communication, and the ways people interact with digital systems in everyday life. By drawing on perspectives from engineering, psychology, and the social sciences, I seek to better understand the relationship between people and technology and to develop systems that support positive user experiences.
