Prof. Tahsin Tezdogan is currently a Professor of Marine Hydrodynamics in the Department of Civil, Maritime and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southampton.

Scholarly Activities
Prof. Tezdogan is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Ocean Engineering (Elsevier) and serves on the editorial boards of two additional international journals. He has previously acted as Guest Editor for special issues of Ocean Engineering, Applied Ocean Research, and the Journal of Marine Science and Technology. He is also a regular reviewer for numerous leading journals in the field.
He is a panel member for the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT) and has served as a reviewer and evaluator for major funding schemes, including EU Horizon 2020, the Newton Fund, and the International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF).
Since 2017, Prof. Tezdogan has contributed to the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC), an NGO member of the IMO. He served as a member of the Specialist Committee on Combined CFD/EFD Methods (29th ITTC, 2017–2021), the Quality Systems Group (30th ITTC, 2021–2024), and is currently a member of the Seakeeping Committee (31st ITTC, 2024–2027).
From May 2022 to December 2023, he was a member of the UK Shipbuilding Skills Taskforce (UKSST), a cross-sector partnership established by the Department for Education. The Taskforce published the landmark report “A Step Change in UK Shipbuilding Skills” and a toolkit to support employers in leveraging the UK skills system.
Prof. Tezdogan is also a Fellow and Chartered Marine Engineer of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST). Since May 2019, he has been a member of the Institute’s Professional Affairs and Education Committee (PAEC), which sets academic and professional development standards, accredits academic and training programmes, and approves CPD recognition.
