Liam Jones is a postgraduate research student within Academic Geriatric Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine following his appointment as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in 2024.
Liam is also a Specialty Registrar in Geriatrics and General Internal Medicine at University Hospital Southampton.

Biography
Liam Jones is a postgraduate research student within the Academic Geriatric Medicine research group at the Faculty of Medicine. His doctoral research involves using routinely collected NHS data to predict functional and quality of life outcomes in older adults following orthopaedic surgery in older adults, as well as using qualitative methods to explore shared decision making in the context of hip fracture management.
Liam is also a Specialty Registrar in Geriatrics and General Internal Medicine at University Hospital Southampton. He graduated in medicine from the University of Southampton in 2018 and stayed in the Wessex region for his postgraduate clinical training. Liam was appointed as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in 2024 before embarking on his doctoral studies.
He is actively involved in the British Geriatrics Society, sitting on the Trainees' Council as a research representative, as well as being a member of the BGS Research and Academic Development Committee.
