Patient and public involvement

We are always looking to involve patients and the public in shaping our research, including prioritisation of studies, understanding findings and representing patient voices at a larger scale through shaping strategy, policy and grant calls. If you are interested in joining research focus teams, or steering groups then please contact Dr James Ashton for more information.

We have worked with families on a number of patient stories, exemplifying how research can impact on IBD diagnosis and treatment:

We are delighted to announce that the next CICRA IBD Family Information Day will take place on Saturday 18th April 2026.

Our family days provide a valuable opportunity for families to:

  • Meet and chat with other families in similar situations
  • Share experiences and feel less alone on their IBD journey
  • Learn more about IBD from leading professionals
  • Listen to talks and join discussion groups
  • Attend a Q&A session with IBD experts
  • Enjoy a relaxed day with activities for children and young people
