Mr Nick Barratt
Senior Teaching Fellow; Head of School (ACIS)

I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Academic Centre for International Students, part of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Southampton.
My main roles are Director of Pre-sessional Programmes and Module Coordinator - International Foundation Year Programme. I also have a role as part of the team providing the Skills for Business (S4B) module for Southampton Business School.
In a previous life, I worked in local government, before I changed tack and moved to Ibiza, Spain to teach English. After relocating to Madrid, I spent many years as a Business English teacher, working mainly in large international companies.
I then worked for the British Council for a number of years and before joining the University of Southampton, I was working at the British Council Teaching Centre in Kandy, Sri Lanka as an EFL teacher and teacher trainer for the Sri-Lankan university sector.
I joined the University in 2007, first working as an IELTS examiner and as a teacher of English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
