Dr Vigneswaran is currently Associate Professor in Interventional Radiology and Medical Artificial Intelligence at the University of Southampton, alongside his role as Consultant Interventional Radiologist at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD). He previously completed an NIHR Clinical Lectureship in Interventional Radiology, where his research focused on the application of machine learning and clinical decision support systems in oesophageal cancer within Professor Tim Underwood’s laboratory at the Department of Cancer Sciences, University of Southampton.
His wider academic work spans artificial intelligence, interventional oncology, image-guided therapies, and translational clinical research. He has led and collaborated on multiple national and international research projects exploring predictive modelling, radiomics, trustworthy AI, and outcome prediction in cancer and interventional radiology. He is actively involved in interdisciplinary collaborations between clinicians, engineers, and data scientists to support the safe integration of AI into healthcare.
Dr Vigneswaran has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at numerous national and international scientific meetings. His research has attracted competitive funding from organisations including the Academy of Medical Sciences, NIHR, and Wessex Health Innovation. He maintains active interests in academic leadership, collaborative research networks, and the development of future AI-enabled technologies within interventional radiology and cancer care.
