While AI is today primarily associated with LLMs and the Generative AI boom, this is only the latest chapter in a long and rich tradition of research into computational creativity and musical processes. From computer-assisted composition to AI-assisted performance, this tradition is very much alive and now benefits from unprecedented computational resources, opening exciting opportunities for musicians and artists.
