Developing a deeper appreciation of risk and identifying new approaches to its analysis and management

Understanding the importance of risk perceptions and decision behaviours in addressing social and environmental issues
Performing cutting-edge analysis and modelling of risk taking  and decision making in financial markets
Applying risk expertise in areas such as machine learning, cyber security and autonomous vehicles operations

Since the Centre for Risk Research was established by Professor Johnnie Johnson in 1990, its members have continuously developed and fostered a unique interdisciplinary approach to risk and decision-making research, consultancy and education. In particular, the Centre aims to encourage a deeper appreciation of the nature of risk, to develop new approaches to its analysis and to assist individuals and organisations in improving the quality of decision-making and the management of risk and uncertainty.
