Visiting Fellow

Emma became a Visiting Fellow in 2015 and is currently a partner in the independent consultancy Effective Evidence. Emma specialises in evidence synthesis and critical appraisal, health technology assessment and meta-analysis, and maintains close links with SHTAC.
Emma worked for SHTAC from 2000 - 2015 and was a member of the team responsible for the production of systematic reviews of the clinical and cost-effectiveness of healthcare interventions, and evidence reviews of submissions to the NICE Technology Appraisals Programme, undertaking both multiple technology appraisals (MTAs) and single technology appraisals (STAs). Emma has conducted systematic reviews for the NIHR HTA Programme including on treatments for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, treatments for hepatitis C in children, bariatric surgery for obesity and ablative therapies for liver metastases. Emma has undertaken a number of systematic reviews for the Cochrane Collaboration.
