Geology is one of the most exciting, dynamic and relevant sciences in the world today.

Geological investigations hold the key to many current global challenges. This includes understanding past climatic perturbation in order to predict future climate change, developing ways to discover new natural resources and exploit known ones responsibly, and understanding natural hazards and mitigating them.

Geology integrates many other scientific disciplines in the study of the nature, dynamics and evolution of the physical, chemical and biological processes operating on the Earth over the past four billion years - and even extends to studying other bodies in the solar system. 

A degree in geology will enable you to study a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines and acquire subject-specific and transferable skills that are much sought after by employers. The continued demand for raw materials such as oil, gas and minerals ensures there will be a continued need for graduate geologists for many years to come.

As a leading geology university, our geology and geophysics programmes are accredited by The Geological Society. Current students can apply for Candidate Fellowship and once graduated can apply for Fellowship status.

I have taken fieldtrips to Tenby, Wales and Ingleton, North Yorkshire. Both of these were fantastic and a real learning curve. My best memory has to be the Geological Society trip to Italy in 2015.
