The Students’ Union: become part of the wider student body

The University of Southampton Students’ Union, also known as SUSU, is run by students, for students.

SUSU supports students throughout their time at the University by representing your views, offering free advice, and running a wide range of clubs and societies.

They also organise events all year round and provide a lively social space with cafés, bars, and shops on campus.

Latest news and events on your intranet: SUSSED

You can get onto the University’s student intranet as soon as you’ve set up your University IT account and email.

SUSSED will give you access to University news and announcements, as well as useful links, including:

  • Banner - where you can manage your student record and details
  • Blackboard - for communications about your course
  • Subscribe Self-service - to manage your University IT account and reset your password

Sport at Southampton

Southampton Sport offers all University of Southampton students a range of fitness, wellbeing and sporting opportunities in various locations across Southampton. Facilities include gyms, outdoor pitches, sports courts and a watersports centre. 

The Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre has a gym with over 200 exercise and weightlifting stations, state-of-the-art equipment and technology.

It also includes:

  • 4 fitness and active studios, including a martial arts studio, with an enhanced fitness class programme
  • a new performance sport gym
  • 3 squash courts
  • a climbing and bouldering wall featuring speed climbing
  • a dedicated indoor cycling studio
  • a swimming pool
  • sports halls

You can also access Mayflower Gym in Southampton city centre and the fitness suite in the Glen Eyre halls of residence, as well as outdoor pitches and courts at Wide Lane Sports Ground.
